This album is still widely hailed for its timeless audial magic. Undoubtedly a legendary album it stands out even among MARDUK’s own discography. While Dark Endless still leaned heavily towards Death Metal and their later output frequently put emphasis on speed and brutality, it’s exactly on Those of the Unlight and its successor Opus Nocturne that MARDUK immortalized some of their most brooding and haunting compositions. Showcasing a perfect blend of dark atmosphere and unrelenting heaviness with an exceptional vocal performance by Joakim af Gravf who made his MARDUK debut on the album, songs like “Wolves”, “Burn my Coffin” or the ungodly title track will forever stand as beacons of supreme dark art.
Released by Osmose Productions.
